Janice Rubin is a highly accomplished employment lawyer, workplace investigator, and employment mediator. Called to the Bar of Ontario in 1991, she has conducted investigations and reviews in a multitude of workplace and institutional environments, and her publicly available mandates have included work for the CBC, the University of King's College, the University of Prince Edward Island, the Ottawa Police Service, and Major League Soccer.
As a senior employment lawyer, and in addition to her workplace investigation practice, Janice mediates work-related disputes such as wrongful dismissal claims and human rights complaints.
In 2025, Janice was awarded the Law Society Medal by the Law Society of Ontario for her outstanding service to the legal profession and her commitment to its highest ideals. She was named one of the Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers of 2023 by Canadian Lawyer Magazine, and has been awarded the Lexpert Zenith award, and the National Human Resources Employment Lawyer of the Year award. Janice is also repeatedly recognized by Best Lawyers, and is regularly found on lists for Canadian Who's Who, Lexpert's Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada, and Chambers and Partners Canada Guide.
Janice has written extensively on employment law and workplace investigations, including co-authoring two books — The Human Resources Guide to Workplace Investigations and A Practical Guide to the Law of Termination in Ontario. She has also taught at Osgoode Hall Law School.
Janice holds an LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School, a Negotiation Skills Certification (Harvard), a Mediation Skills Certification (CDR Associates), and a Certificate in Adjudication for Administrative Agencies, Boards and Tribunals (The Society of Ontario Adjudicators and Regulators). She has also completed courses in Authentic Leader Development (Harvard) and Governance Essentials (Institute of Corporate Directors, Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto).
